After an enjoyable stay in Siena, we bike northwards into the heartland of the “Gallo Nero” – the Chianti classico region.  We bike from one vineyard to the next paralleling the famous Strada Chianti until we reach Greve-in-Chianti. From Greve we return to Florence by bus.

We will spend another couple of days in Florence exploring its artistic, cultural and culinary delights thus bringing this trip to a fitting conclusion..

The geography of this region is a little more challenging and there are a few hills to be conquered. Once again we have full van support if one should feel disinclined to accept the hilly challenge. Another consideration will be the timing of the trips because due to its southern latitude, it is really too hot to ride in July and August. The best time for this trip is in September when the temperature is at its optimum for bike riding.  Of course this is also the time for the grape harvest and all the festivities that go along with this age-old ritual.
