Salzburg Itinerary Day 6

ATTERSEE to TRAUNSEE (45km)

We save ourselves the first 25 km on the bike today by using a boat to follow the shorelines of the Attersee till we disembark at Weyregg on the other side of the lake. From here it is an easy run to Gmunden on the shores of the Traunsee.

After taking some time to visit the picturesque Schloss Orth on its tiny island in this lake, we bike on to our destination Traunkirchen, farther along the lake, with its daunting view of the surrounding mountains. If we arrive early enough in Traunkirchen, we may make the short climb up a promontory to a small jewel of a baroque church. We will be rewarded not only with a fantastic view but will also be able to marvel over the priceless carvings and architectural wonders inside this small church.
